Waimana Marine has two roles available for those who are interested in working for a small family friendly business operating out of Elaine Bay in the Pelorus Sound.
Role 1:
Inventory and Machine Operator
With our mussel boats working all year round on four days on four days off rotation, keeping constant supply of quality stockings and ropes plays a pivotal role in our operations. Managing this process from machine operations and maintenance, quality outputs and inventory management will keep you busy in this role.
Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be responsible for the following tasks -Stocking and rope manufacturing, Quality control, Machine operations and maintenance, Inventory control, Health & Safety.
Role Number 2:
First Mate
We are seeking a First Mate to join the team, you will be responsible for supporting the Skipper in the safe and legal handling of our vessels and be ready to fill the Skipper position at any time. You will support operational and administrative requirements, including staffing, workplans and compliance. Your high work ethic and attention to detail will ensure that all relevant rules and regulations are met with best practice standards. Excellent forward planning skills are essential as the vessel operates a busy schedule. We are looking for an all-rounder with loads of initiative, as your day will be varied. Your duties will range from assisting the skipper in running the day-to-day vessel operations, work planning and delivery, and staff day to day performance.
Ideally you will hold at least a minimum of an Inshore Launch Master (ILM), Commercial Launch Master (CLM) or Skipper restricted Limits (SRL) ticket. Have comprehensive sea time and vessel maintenance experience looking to progress in their career in the Aquaculture industry. Our team works a four on, four off rotation roster, creating a need to be flexible around your working week.
In order to do either role you must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and Waimana Marine operates a random drug and alcohol testing program. This role requires you to have the right to work in New Zealand and have a full driver's license.
